SItuation

  • Now when we create a new tester vm, it is long to install hero stack

TODO

what we could do:

  • make an rsync server somewhere for dev & main
  • download on those also driven from admin server
  • make a VM which is more up to date with everything
  • use rsync to sync lates

Furthermore

  • Investigate first why it is slow, see if we can make it faster, see if the rsync method is the best.

Proposition

  • get admin to also get latest binaries/build from main + development and rsync it to the tester vm
  • as we have mycelium network <2ms between admin and tester, it could be very fast

Tracking this together with #262 as one effort: #265 is the fast transport (admin holds latest main and development binaries and rsyncs them to the tester over mycelium), and #262 is the branch and per-service or all-at-once update control. Prioritized as the next operator-velocity work.

Keeping this as the lower priority speed lever. The main fast onboarding approach is the pre warmed pool in home#266, which also removes the network route wait. This stays as a secondary optimisation to revisit if needed.
